Company Profile

Stafford Physiotherapy and Pilates

Company Overview

Stafford Physiotherapy and Pilates exists to provide patients with a comprehensive assessment and treatment program by dedicated physiotherapists employing skilled, predominantly “hands on” technical expertise, specific exercise prescription and advice in a friendly caring environment.

Company History

Stafford Physiotherapy and Pilates was established in 1988 when Sandra Day purchased the practice from physiotherapist, Dale Mitchell. Sandra has always endeavoured to employ high quality physiotherapists who exhibit excellent hands-on and technical expertise . These HANDS-ON skills, along with specific exercise prescription, form the backbone of the treatment approaches at Stafford Physiotherapy and Pilates.

Stafford Physiotherapy and Pilates supports the community in the areas of Stafford, Stafford Heights, Gordon Park, Kedron, Grange, Everton Park and Wavell Heights and as far as McDowall and Bridgeman Downs. We provide high quality physiotherapy treatment, work experience opportunities, free lectures to various groups, sports coverage, and support local schools and charities.

During the past twenty-eight years we have maintained a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and treatment by employing the latest in hands-on techniques and equipment and promoting ongoing education. We keep up to date with lectures and courses at the University of Queensland and at the Australian Physiotherapy Association, conferences, workshops, in-services and regular study group meetings.

It is of great importance to us that our staff be friendly, approachable and supportive. We communicate readily with other health professionals, especially the patient’s doctor. We also refer on to the appropriate area as needed.

In April 2012, after renovations to Stafford Physiotherapy Centre, The Pilates Studio was opened. The initial extensive musculo-skeletal assessment allows the formulation of a specially tailored clinical Pilates exercise program for each individual patient or client. Following the assessment, there is an option to continue one-on-one sessions or join a small supervised class (maximum of 4 people per class).

As each person’s program is designed specifically for them and takes into account any previous injuries and existing problems, this type of Pilates is suitable for all ages, all levels of fitness and most stages of rehabilitation from injury.

All classes use equipment such as the reformer, trapeze table (Cadillac), Wunda chair, ladder barrel, spine corrector plus mat work, ball work and balance exercises. We also have Mobility Sticks and Makarlu pods.

A reassessment is done after ten sessions and the exercise program is modified as the patient or client progresses. Because of the close supervision by our physiotherapists during the classes, exercises can be modified during class if required because of pain or other issues.

Benefits
