Company Profile
Great Lakes Physio/The Physio Clinic
Company Overview
Great Lakes Physio has been owned and run by Jonathon and Sarah Newman since 2000. In the 20 years since, we have helped over 15000 people to reclaim their health to live a life that they love. We are known as the pain relief experts in the Great Lakes region, with the most experienced team of clinicians (over 120 years combined) in the area. The services we offer include Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sports Injury Management, Pelvic Health, Vestibular Physiotherapy, GLAD Osteoarthritis Management, Clinical Pilates, Rehabilitation (Neurological, Post Surgical and Geriatric), Strength and Conditioning Coaching, and Acupuncture for Pain Relief in Musculoskeletal Conditions. The practice spans two locations in Forster and Tuncurry, including fully private consultation rooms, and a purpose built gym and Clinical Pilates studio.
Company History
Great Lakes Physio started life as Great Lakes Backcare and Physiotherapy, in a small cottage in West Street, Forster on the Mid North Coast of NSW in 1996, with current team member Janet Robertson as the original practice owner. Current owners Jonathon and Sarah Newman took over the practice in 2000 after relocating from the UK. Both Jonathon and Sarah are APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, with Jonathon originating from the nearby town of Taree. In the 20 years since the practice has grown strongly, with a move to the current location on The Lakes Way in Forster in 2004. This allowed the establishment of the region's first Clinical Pilates Studio, with dedicated private treatment rooms and the installation of a fully equipped gymnasium, so essential for complete rehabilitation following injury.
Great Lakes Physio became heavily involved in local sport, particularly football, and now sees the Practice Principal Jonathon Newman as the region's only FFA Licenced Football Conditioning Coach, with the practice engaged by Northern NSW Football to provide coach education in injury prevention and player performance enhancement. Netball has also begun to feature heavily, with the practice becoming Netball Australia's only recognised Knee Physio in the region.
As time has gone on, rather than streamlining into sports and musculoskeletal fields, Great Lakes Physio has invested heavily in Continence and Pelvic Health over the last decade, and has introduced Vestibular Physiotherapy as one of its treatment arms over the last 6 years.
