Company Overview
gecko physiotherapy is a small private practice in regional Victoria, established by me, Meryl Hale, in 2006. I have always sought to have a colleague working with me to share the load & enhance the practice. We have a solid reputation in the district, with pleasantly full caseloads. We do not have reliance on compensable bodies, nor the NDIS, to generate business.
There is the usual mixed private practice caseload, with an emphasis on musculo-skeletal presentations. I am also an Accredited Lymphoedema Therapist. I seek to provide as much flexibility in work arrangements as practical - essentially, if clients are pleased and standards are maintained, and you contribute positively to the clinic environment, then the clinic & all those associated with gecko physiotherapy will continue to flourish. To liven the environment, a paediatric physiotherapist also regularly uses the rooms.
Company History
As mentioned in the company profile, I started gecko physiotherapy in 2006. My initial jump into private practice was in 1991 in Mildura, and I then became a sole trader/ owner in 1996. In 1997, a colleague joined me in that practice, & I was there until 2001 when I moved overseas for several years. The original clinic successfully continued ( & is still going).
Since 2006, there have been 2 different physiotherapists working full time at gecko physiotherapy, plus 2 others on a limited basis while they were sorting out career options.
CoVid has had some impact, but not as severe as elsewhere. Our weekly hydrotherapy booking at the public hospital remains on hold, but hopefully we will be available to clients again in 2022.
Benefits
Flexibility & control over your work environment have long been shown to improve work satisfaction. Obviously, you have to work hard to earn well, but you can decide how you go about that. Good communication with colleagues & clients is essential for this framework to work.
The possibility of profit-sharing could be considered for someone with experience & who gels with the clinic.
